Envelope Begins to Enclose Mid-Rise Lofthouse on Logan | UrbanToronto
Construction of a mid-rise boutique condominium development is making speedy progress on the northeast corner of Gerrard and Logan in Toronto’s Riverdale area. Known as Lofthouse on Logan, the project from Grid Developments is a six-storey, George Popper Architect-designed building being built on the site of a former Beer Store, demolished in mid-2019.

Construction began later that year, and after a period of dormancy following excavation, resumed in mid-2020. The installation of a crane followed last summer as the site’s single underground level was formed. The building’s ground floor was then constructed in reinforced concrete, along with poured elevator cores and stairwells. The levels above the ground floor have been built using structural steel, less typical for Toronto residential developments.

Lofthouse on Logan is now topped out at a height of 24.38 metres, and exterior finishes have begun to enclose the building’s lower floors. Weatherproof insulation panels have been installed as high as the third floor, marking where masonry finishes will soon be installed. Glazing is also appearing, with retail glazing at street level and window wall cladding enclosing the punched windows above on the second floor.

Upon completion, the building will bring a limited collection of just 58 condominium units to the neighbourhood.
