Topping Off January 2022: What Was Hot on UrbanToronto | UrbanToronto
Another month of Toronto city-building, transportation, and real estate talk is now behind us, so we are looking back at what were the hottest stories, project Database files, and Forum discussions from January, 2022.
Our Top Ten News Stories
We start off our top 10 news stories with #22, a fresh proposal submitted by Diamante for the Bay Street terminus site. After earlier proposals were shot down by the City as too large, subsequent appeals were rejected by the OLT. A new, smaller scale proposal is the result of a total redesign.

This month, the majority of the spots in our Top Ten were taken by stories about proposed office and residential developments across the city, with only #6 — a construction update — and #3 — a proposal to redevelop a subway station — covering other topics.

Our Top Ten Database Files
At #16, was 200 Queens Quay West, where people were checking out the originally proposed version of a mixed-use development in Toronto’s Harbourfront area, (41- and 71-storey towers with condominiums and affordable housing, designed by Wallman Architects for Lifetime Developments), to compare if with a newer version appearing in the thread.

The rest of our Top Ten Database files feature many of the same projects we see at the top of the list on a monthly basis, albeit some of them shuffled around a bit. This is, of course, with the exception of #6 – 6 Dawes – which made the list this month after not having previously been on it in months past.

Our Top Ten Threads
We begin with #12, New Rogers Brampton Campus. This thread was brand new, and represents a proposed MZO for a new office campus in Downtown Brampton, and a redevelopment of Rogers’ extensive property at 8200 Dixie Road, a former Northern Telecom plant that was refurbished into Nortel’s headquarters and later acquired by Rogers.

Maintaining its #1 spot is The One, which has been waiting for its next big concrete pour, after it was delayed first by the big snowfall, and then again by the extreme cold weather.
