Yorkwoods Condos to Become Part of an Expanding Community | UrbanToronto
CTN Developments’ Yorkwoods Condos will be part of an expanding community in Toronto’s borough of North York. The future development is to be located at 2839 Jane Street, near Jane and Sheppard, and will be at the centre of multiple new transit systems—making the community incredibly well-connected.
Designed by AAA Architects Inc, Yorkwoods Condos will stand 13 storeys tall, and house 190 units with three levels of underground parking. Yorkwoods’ contemporary design with one, two, and three-bedroom suites provide an abundance of options.

Yorkwoods Condos will be located within a short walk of the future Jane stop on the Finch West LRT, which is currently under construction. Once built, it will provide rapid transit to 46,000 passengers per day and by 2031, is projected to have an annual ridership of 12 million passengers. It is expected that housing demand will be strongest in the areas that are within walking distance of a transit station, making Yorkwoods a desirable option.
The development also conforms to “Places to Grow,” a provincial act designed to promote economic growth, increase housing supply and infrastructure, create jobs, and build communities that make life easier, healthier, more accessible, and affordable for residents. The growth plan contains policies regarding population and employment densities that should be planned for in Major Transit Station Areas (MTSAs) along routes where transit is heavily relied on. MTSAs are often defined as the area within a ten minute walk from a transit station. The Jane and Finch area contains four planned major transit stations along the Finch West LRT, which can expect to be identified as MTSAs. As a result, it is expected that future city investments will come to the area of Yorkwoods Condos, which will sit 700 metres from the future Jane and Finch LRT stop.

There will be connections to other transit lines, too. From the LRT stop, it will be a short ride to Finch West station on the TTC’s Yonge-University line and its direct connections to Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, Yorkdale Mall, Downtown Toronto, and many more destinations, while providing connections to other adjacent transit systems including YRT, GO, and more.
As per the Jane and Finch Initiative, priority is also being made for both the improvement and addition of bike lanes and sidewalks for pedestrians and cyclists between LRT stops and neighbourhood destinations, such as parks, schools, community centres, community meeting spaces, libraries, local shops and places of work.
Within walking distance will be the 65,000 ft² Jane-Finch Community Hub and Centre for the Arts, located at 2050 Finch Avenue West. The facility will showcase the community’s diverse skills and talents, and house dance and recording studios, an indoor swimming pool, community kitchen, youth lounge, and a computer lab.

Yorkwoods will also be in close proximity to various parks and green spaces. The development will back onto Derrydowns Park, which connects to Downsview Park to its south. Trails are located along the nearby Black Creek Ravine, and various golf courses are situated within minutes of the future condo. The Jane and Finch Initiative will also prioritize the creation and integration of even more parks, squares, streets, routes, natural areas and other open spaces, and ensure the integration of LRT and other transit stops into the community.
The Yorkwoods Condos development is planned to join the neighbourhood by 2024.
