Y&S Condos Pops Above Grade Near Eglinton Station | UrbanToronto
Y&S Condos from Tribute Communities and Tenblock has over the last months popped above grade at Yonge and Soudan streets in Midtown Toronto. Just steps from Eglinton station on Yonge Line 1 and the soon-to-open Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown LRT, this development at 2161 Yonge Street, designed by Graziani + Corazza Architects, has made significant progress since UrbanToronto last checked in on the site in June 2022.

Nine months after the last story but still a full year ago, a westward view in March, 2023 brings us into the depths of the excavation pit. A matrix of initial concrete walls stands amidst snow, with rebar ready to be tied into future walls and columns of the next floor.

By October, 2023, construction had met and passed grade level, and the first storey is just beginning to take shape. To the left, a rebar cage is set to provide structural integrity for a future concrete column. Central in the frame, wooden formwork surrounds the tower crane. On the right, recently poured concrete stands cured and firm.

A high-angle view facing south in November, 2023 similarly captures the project just at and surpassing grade. A cement truck on Soudan Avenue delivers liquid concrete for the red boom pump, its arm difficult to make out from the similarly painted tower crane, as the delivery is directed by crew members to a slab form, dense with rebar.

By the start of this year, two storeys were fully formed and the third was taking shape.

By February, 2024 the podium reached five storeys, with forms in place for the 6th floor slab.

This month, a northeast perspective reveals shows another storey has been added. In the upper left portion of the photo, the crane is hoisting a concrete bucket. The podium has reached the first of a number of step-backs, as seen in the rendering up top.

As Y&S Condos continues its ascent to its final height of 130.77m and 38 storeys, it will provide 380 residential condo suites, office space, and retail at grade.
